Quick Answer

Drop your PSD files into the box and each design is saved as a PNG in your browser, with its transparent background intact — no Photoshop needed. Pick a maximum size if the canvas is huge, then download the PNGs one by one or as a ZIP. The converter uses the flattened image Photoshop stores inside the PSD when 'Maximize Compatibility' is on, which is the default.

Why Convert PSD to PNG?

Photoshop's PSD files hold layered designs that only Photoshop and a handful of other editors can open. When a logo, sticker, product cut-out, thumbnail element or web graphic is finished, you need it in a format the rest of the world can use. For graphics, that format is PNG: it is lossless, keeps edges perfectly crisp, and — crucially — supports transparent backgrounds.

This PSD to PNG converter (PSD से PNG) exports a Photoshop design as a transparent PNG directly in your browser. Anyone on the team can do it, on any computer or phone, without a Photoshop licence and without uploading confidential artwork to a website.

How to Use It

  1. Choose the size: keep the original, or limit the longest side to 4000, 2000 or 1080 pixels.
  2. Drop your PSD files — up to 30 at once, up to 200 MB each.
  3. Check the results: each row shows a checkerboard thumbnail (so you can see transparency), the PNG size, the dimensions and the number of flattened layers.
  4. Download individually or press Download All (ZIP).

Transparency, Done Right

Designers usually build logos and stickers on a transparent canvas so they can be placed on any background. Converting such a PSD to JPG fills the transparent area with white — a white box appears behind your logo on a coloured website or video. PNG stores an alpha channel with up to 256 levels of transparency per pixel, so even soft shadows, glows and anti-aliased edges blend smoothly onto whatever is behind them. The converter keeps that alpha channel exactly as Photoshop saved it.

Typical uses where transparency matters:

  • Logos and brand marks for websites, apps, invoices and presentations.
  • YouTube thumbnail elements — cut-out faces, arrows, text badges.
  • Stickers for WhatsApp and Telegram packs.
  • Product cut-outs for e-commerce listings and catalogues.
  • Video overlays — lower thirds, watermarks and frames for editing software.
  • App and game assets — icons, buttons and sprites.

How the Converter Reads Your PSD

Every PSD saved with Photoshop's default "Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" setting contains a ready-made flattened image of all visible layers, stored precisely so other programs can show the design. The converter reads that composite with the open-source ag-psd library. Because Photoshop itself produced it, every effect — blend modes, drop shadows, gradients, smart objects, custom fonts — appears exactly as the designer saw it, without needing the fonts or plug-ins installed. If the setting was turned off when the file was saved, the composite is missing; the tool tells you, and re-saving the PSD with the option set to "Always" fixes it.

PNG File Size and Resizing

PNG's lossless compression keeps every pixel, which is ideal for graphics with flat colours and sharp edges — a logo might be just tens of kilobytes. Photographic designs and huge print canvases, however, produce large PNGs. Use the Maximum size option to shrink oversized artwork for screens:

DestinationSuggested maximum size
Website logo or header graphic1080 px (or smaller later)
YouTube thumbnail element1080 px
WhatsApp sticker source1080 px, then resize to 512 × 512
Presentation or document2000 px
Print or further design workOriginal size

If the design has no transparency and file size matters most — for example a photo-heavy poster for WhatsApp — use PSD to JPG instead. For the smallest web graphics with transparency, convert the PNG further with PNG to WebP.

Using Your PNG in Other Apps

A transparent PNG works almost everywhere a picture can go. In Canva, upload it and place it over any background or photo. In PowerPoint, Google Slides and Keynote, insert it and the slide colour shows through the transparent areas. Video editors such as CapCut, Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve treat it as an overlay, so it sits on top of your footage without a box. Website builders, WordPress and Shopify accept PNG uploads for logos and banners. For apps that need very small files, convert it to WebP afterwards; for print or embroidery vendors that ask for vectors, trace it with PNG to SVG or request the designer's original vector file.

Why Do Some Converters Give a White Box?

Many quick converters and preview apps export only to JPG, or ignore the alpha channel when they read a PSD, so transparent areas turn white. Others flatten the image onto white to be safe. This converter keeps the PSD's composite exactly as stored — transparency included — and writes it to PNG, which is designed to carry it. If you still see a solid background, the PSD itself contains a filled background layer, which you can hide in Photoshop before saving.

Worked Example

Your designer shares brand-logo.psd (2400 × 2400 px, 12 layers, transparent background) and you need the logo for a website header, an invoice template and a YouTube watermark. Keep "Original size", drop the file, and you get brand-logo.png — the checkerboard thumbnail confirms the background is transparent. Place it on the dark website header and the light invoice alike, with no white box. Need a favicon too? Feed the PNG into our Favicon Generator.

PSD Templates from the Internet

Free and paid PSD templates for flyers, wedding invitations, business cards, social posts and thumbnails are hugely popular. Before spending time editing one, drop it here to see a full-size PNG preview of the finished design exactly as its original creator last saved it. If it suits you, open it in an editor to change the text and pictures, save, and convert again to get your final transparent PNG, or a print-ready PDF with our free PSD to PDF tool.

Batch Conversion

Drop a whole set of PSDs — an icon set, a sticker pack, a carousel of social posts — up to 30 at a time. Files are converted one after another so the page stays responsive, and Download All (ZIP) packs every PNG into one download. Change the size and press Re-convert with Settings to redo the batch without re-adding files, or Clear List to start over.

Limitations

  • Needs the composite: PSDs saved without "Maximize Compatibility" can't be converted here.
  • Whole design only: you can't toggle layers or edit text. For that, use Photoshop, GIMP or Photopea.
  • PSB files (Photoshop's large document format) aren't supported.
  • Colour modes: 8-bit RGB and greyscale work best; CMYK or 16-bit files may fail or shift colours.
  • Size limit: canvases larger than about 40 megapixels exceed browser limits.

Private by Design

Brand assets and client work are often confidential until launch. Unlike upload-based converters, this tool reads the PSD and writes the PNG entirely inside your browser using the open-source ag-psd library and the browser's built-in PNG encoder. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and the files vanish when you close the tab.

Troubleshooting

  • "This PSD has no flattened image": open it in Photoshop, set Maximize Compatibility to Always (Edit → Preferences → File Handling on Windows; Photoshop → Settings → File Handling on a Mac) and save again.
  • Background is not transparent: the PSD itself has a filled background layer; hide or delete it in Photoshop and re-save.
  • Colours look off: CMYK or wide-gamut files are converted to screen RGB; export an sRGB PNG from Photoshop for exact colours.
  • PNG too big: choose a maximum size, or use PSD to JPG if you don't need transparency.
  • "Too large to process": the canvas exceeds about 40 megapixels; export a smaller version from Photoshop.

Tips

  • Trim empty space around logos in Photoshop (Image → Trim) before saving, so the PNG has no extra transparent margins.
  • Want a scalable logo? Try PNG to SVG to trace the PNG into vector shapes.
  • Need a white background instead? Use PSD to JPG, which fills transparency with white.
  • Removing a background from a photo? Our Background Remover creates transparent PNGs from ordinary pictures.

Works on Any Device

Use it in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux, Chromebooks, Android and iPhone. A PSD that arrives on your phone can become a transparent PNG in seconds, ready to post or forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert PSD to PNG without Photoshop?

Drop the PSD into the box. The converter reads the image stored inside the file and saves a PNG in your browser — no software to install.

Will the PNG keep the transparent background?

Yes. Transparent areas in the design stay transparent in the PNG, so logos and cut-outs can be placed on any background.

Is PSD to PNG lossless?

Yes. PNG is lossless, so the composite image is stored without any compression artefacts.

Why does it say there's no flattened image?

The PSD was saved with 'Maximize Compatibility' turned off. Re-save it in Photoshop with that option set to Always, then convert again.

Can I export individual layers?

No. The tool exports the full flattened design as last saved. Use Photoshop, GIMP or Photopea to export single layers.

Why is my PNG large?

PNG is lossless, so detailed designs and photos make big files. Choose a maximum size, or use PSD to JPG when transparency isn't needed.

Which is better for logos, PNG or JPG?

PNG — it keeps sharp edges, flat colours and transparency. JPG is better for photos without transparency.

Can it open PSB files?

No, only .psd. Export large PSB documents as PSD or PNG from Photoshop.

How many files can I convert?

Up to 30 PSDs per batch, each up to 200 MB.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Your designs are processed entirely in your browser.

Does it work on Mac, Windows and phones?

Yes, in any modern browser.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up and no watermark.
