Quick Answer

Fill in your details, add experience, education and skills, choose the Classic template for the best compatibility with applicant tracking systems, and click Print / Save as PDF. Keep it to one page if you have under about 5 years of experience, write one measurable achievement per bullet, and tailor the summary and skills to each job. Everything is free and stays in your browser.

Free Resume Builder — No Sign-Up, No Watermark, No Upload

A good resume does one job: it gets you the interview. Recruiters often spend only a short time on the first scan, and many companies run applications through software before a human reads them. So your resume needs to be clear, well structured and easy for both people and machines to read. This free resume builder helps you make exactly that. You fill in a simple form, see a live preview, choose from three templates and download a professional PDF — without creating an account, paying for a "premium" download, or finding a watermark across your CV at the last step.

Your information stays private. The resume is built entirely in your browser and saved automatically in that browser only, so you can close the tab and continue later. Nothing is uploaded to Prompt Minds or anyone else. To move your resume to another device or keep a backup, save your data as a small .json file and load it again whenever you need to.

How to Build Your Resume

  1. Choose a template. Classic is a clean single-column layout that works best for online applications. Modern adds a side panel for skills and education. Compact uses tighter spacing to fit more on one page.
  2. Pick an accent colour for your name and headings. Dark blues, greens and greys look professional and print well.
  3. Add personal details: name, a headline such as "Digital Marketing Executive", email, phone, city and a LinkedIn or portfolio link. A photo is optional.
  4. Write a short professional summary — two or three lines on who you are, your experience and what you bring.
  5. List your skills, separated by commas.
  6. Add work experience. For each job, enter the title, company, city and dates, and write one achievement per line. Add as many jobs as you need.
  7. Add education with degree, institution, year and CGPA or percentage, and optionally projects.
  8. Add certifications, languages and achievements, one per line.
  9. Click Print / Save as PDF and choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog. Only the resume is printed, on A4.

Which Template Should You Use?

Classic (recommended for most applications). Many companies, job portals and recruitment agencies use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to collect and search resumes. These systems read text from top to bottom and look for standard section headings. A single-column layout with plain headings like Experience, Education and Skills — which is what Classic provides — is generally the safest choice. The PDF contains real, selectable text rather than an image, so the content can be read and searched.

Modern. The two-column design with a side panel looks polished when you hand a printed copy to an interviewer, email a recruiter directly, or apply to a small company where a person reads every resume. Some ATS software handles columns less reliably, so keep a Classic version for online portals.

Compact. Same structure as Classic with tighter spacing and smaller type, useful when your content runs just over a page.

Writing Each Section Well

Headline and summary

Your headline should match the role you are applying for. The summary is a short pitch: years of experience, main strengths, and one or two results. For example: "Digital marketer with 3 years of experience in SEO, social media and paid campaigns. Grew organic traffic by 120% for a D2C brand." Avoid vague phrases like "hard-working team player" — show it with results instead.

Experience: achievements, not duties

Recruiters already know what a sales executive or developer does. What they want to know is how well you did it. Start each bullet with an action verb, describe what you did, and add a number wherever you can:

  • Weak: "Responsible for social media."
  • Strong: "Grew Instagram followers from 8,000 to 35,000 in 10 months with a weekly Reels calendar."
  • Strong: "Reduced invoice processing time by 40% by automating reports in Excel."

List jobs in reverse order, most recent first, and give more detail to recent and relevant roles.

Education

Include degree, institution, year and score. Freshers usually place education near the top and may include Class XII and Class X; experienced professionals can keep only their highest qualifications. If your university reports CGPA but the employer asks for a percentage, our CGPA to percentage calculator shows the common conversions — always use your university's official formula if it has one.

Skills

Mix tools and technical skills (Excel, Python, Tally, Google Ads, AutoCAD) with a few relevant soft skills, and include languages you speak well. Read the job description and make sure the skills it mentions appear on your resume — honestly — in the same words, because ATS software often searches for exact terms.

Projects, certifications and achievements

For students and career changers, projects are often the strongest section. Describe what you built, the tools you used and the outcome, and add a link if it is public. Certifications from recognised platforms, competition results, scholarships and leadership roles in college all belong here too.

Resume Tips for Freshers

  • Keep it to one page. Use the Compact template if you need a little more space.
  • Put education and projects first, then internships, skills and certifications.
  • Count part-time work, freelancing, college fests and volunteering — they show responsibility.
  • Use a professional email address based on your name.
  • Proofread twice. Run your summary and bullets through our word counter to keep them concise.

Tailoring Your Resume for Each Job

Sending the same resume to every opening is one of the most common reasons good candidates don't hear back. You don't have to rewrite everything — small, targeted changes make a big difference. Before each application, read the job description and note the three or four things the employer cares about most. Then adjust your headline to match the job title, rewrite the summary so its first line speaks to those needs, move the most relevant bullet points to the top of each job, and make sure the key skills appear in your skills list. Because the builder saves your data, you can make these edits in a few minutes, save a PDF with a clear name, and export a separate .json file for each version.

Common Resume Mistakes to Avoid

  • Spelling and grammar errors. They are the quickest way to be rejected. Read your resume aloud before sending it.
  • Long paragraphs. Recruiters skim. Use short bullet points of one or two lines.
  • Unexplained abbreviations. Spell out internal team names and jargon a recruiter at another company might not know.
  • Inflated claims. Interviewers ask about everything on your resume. Keep every number and skill something you can explain confidently.
  • Outdated contact details. Check your phone number and email every time you update the file.

Personal Details: What to Include and What to Leave Out

Older Indian resume formats often included date of birth, father's name, religion, marital status, a full home address and a signed declaration. Most recruiters no longer need these, and leaving them out keeps your resume focused and protects your privacy. Your name, phone, email, city and LinkedIn are enough. Include extra details only when an employer or a government application specifically asks for them. A photo is optional in India and expected in some roles, but many companies and most employers abroad prefer resumes without one. If you do need a formal photo, our passport photo maker can prepare one.

Saving, Editing and Moving Your Resume

Every change is saved automatically in your current browser, so you can come back tomorrow and pick up where you left off. Browser storage can be cleared, though, and it does not move between devices, so click Save Data (.json) after a big edit. That file contains your resume content; open the builder anywhere and use Load Data to continue. Keep a separate tailored version for each type of role you apply for, and name your PDFs clearly, for example Priya-Verma-Resume.pdf, so recruiters can find them later.

Why Free and Private Matters

Many online resume makers let you type everything and then ask for payment or a subscription to download without a watermark, and many store your phone number and work history on their servers. A resume contains exactly the kind of personal data you should be careful with. This builder is free to the end and keeps your data on your own device, so you stay in control of where your resume goes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this resume builder really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no payment, no watermark and no limit on downloads.

Is my data safe?

Your resume is built in your browser and auto-saved only in this browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded. Use Save Data (.json) to keep a backup or move it to another device.

Which template is ATS-friendly?

Classic. It uses one column, standard headings and real text, which applicant tracking systems generally read well. Two-column layouts like Modern can look great but are sometimes parsed less reliably.

How do I download my resume as PDF?

Click Print / Save as PDF, then choose 'Save as PDF' as the printer. Only the resume is printed, on A4, with selectable text.

Should I add a photo to my resume?

In India a photo is optional and common for some roles, but many companies and most international employers prefer resumes without photos. Add one only if the employer expects it.

How long should a resume be?

One page for freshers and early-career candidates; up to two pages for experienced professionals. The Compact template helps fit more on one page.

What should a fresher put on a resume?

Education with scores, internships, projects, relevant skills, certifications, and achievements in college. A strong projects section can replace work experience.

Should I include date of birth, religion or marital status?

Usually not. They aren't needed to judge your ability, and many recruiters now prefer resumes without them. Include them only if an employer specifically asks.

Can I edit my resume later?

Yes. It's saved automatically in the same browser, so reopen the page to continue. On another device, use Load Data with your exported .json file.

How do I write good bullet points?

Start with an action verb, say what you did, and add a number: 'Increased organic traffic 120% in 12 months through technical SEO'. One achievement per line.

Can I make a CV for government jobs or higher studies?

Yes. Use the Classic template and add sections like publications or projects in the certifications box. Follow any format the institution specifies.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, the form works on phones. For the best PDF, saving from a laptop or desktop browser gives the most consistent layout.
